DCMF Adds Two More!
Written by Gleem
Tuesday, 22 April 2008

So our little modding family has grown -- again! By TWO this time! Bet ya didn't even know we were pregnant!

We've added both Shoni88 and skinz (also known as Bongoman) to our little gang of hoodlums!

Shoni started out simply trying to bring Predators into the game... and from there, has made some of the most amazing costumes, mods, and useful posts in the past few weeks, and seems to have a boundless amount of energy, and always willing to lend a hand, to help a modder out!

We figured, if anyone could, we could break him of that habit, quickly!
Though in reality the opposite will happen, we'll be harnessing some of that limitless energy and focusing it into an even-more-powerful laser-beam of modded content awesomeness!

skinz has been working on bringing a brand new angle to movie-making for The Movies, that at first glance, might seem counterintuitive: not using The Movies at all! Sacrilege, you say? No! Instead of fighting with the game's limitations and confines, he's freed us from them! How? He's figured out how to pull The Movies content into the mod-o-riffic playground that is Unreal Tournament!

What does this actually translate into? Well...let's see...

Imagine instead of filming the same old car jump where you are merely able to choose from filming it from this camera angle ... or that one.... to actually driving the car yourself!! We'll be working hard to bring you the ability to imagine an amazing stunt...and then actively participating in its performance!

Better buy a yourself a crash helmet, you're gonna need it!

Scene Editor Progress Update!
Written by Gleem!
Wednesday, 16 April 2008
In case you missed the little sneak peek over at the Lionhead Forums, or you just always rolled your eyes at all that tricksy Gleem-speak in our forums about "golly gosh we will have proper scene editing... someday!"

Here's a whole raft of screenshots of the new Scene Ed app that I've been working on, from the earliest bits, through to the latest ones done just today!

Now, keep in mind that just because it's looking dead sexy, doesn't mean it does anything at all! The entire editing backend still needs to be hooked up to this pretty face.. In fact, these pictures have just about the same amount of functionality!

So enjoy the view! Click for larger images.
There's more under the "Read More" link too!

Tarison's Blog is alive. IT'S ALIVE!
Written by Gleem!

Tarison's Most Disturbing AvatarWell, a long while back, we had team-member blogs for all of our team members. Turns out that Tarison was about the only team member who actually posted more than the spammers that killed the blogs!

So he's got his shiny new blog up and running at tarison.blogspot.com

He's been quite active lately, doing one of the dirtiest jobs of the dirty work that really needed doing: HE'S UPDATING THE BLENDER IMPORT AND EXPORT SCRIPTS!

It's actually a complete do-over. Most people don't realize that it was Tarison that extended the life and functionality of the original scripts to their current state. But he's pushed those about as far and they're ever going to go, and it was time for a fresh start. And let me tell you, those are looking really nice. Only a unabashed geek would even begin to understand the following statement, but here it is: that code is hot, sleek and sexy!

So even though he's got one of the most disturbing avatars ever, you should go check out his blog, and keep up with what's going on!

Written by Admin
Friday, 25 January 2008

Well, it's official! We've managed to trick er convince MikeDBoing to join the ranks of DCMF modders, by offering him all sorts of things that we surely will really definitely follow up on, someday or other...honest! (I mean, a real-life flying limousine with a laser-beam horn and sexy chauffer is pretty easy to come by, right?)

At any rate, Mike is here to show off his absolutely incredible 3D skillz, and, as an added benefit, share how he performs such magic with you too!

If you haven't seen them, check out his series of fantastic screencasts detailing the complete end-to-end job of modeling a dropship and ultimately getting it into the game:
