Welcome to the DCMF Wiki!

This is a wiki. For anyone who doesn't know what a wiki is, it's essentially a publicly editable web-page. This way, each and every page here can be kept completely updated by the community of users!

No more of that old process where you'd have to "Read an entire Forum thread, do three searches, then read all related threads" before you were reasonably sure you had the most current information. If it's here in our Wiki, it should be up to date. And if it's wrong information on a page, well, go right ahead and change it!

FAQs about the Wiki

Q: How do I edit a page?
A: Click on the "Edit Page" link at the bottom left of the page. Or, double click on most pages to edit (your browser needs to have javascript enabled). Or, add /edit at the end of the page's url in your browsers address bar, click your Go button or press Enter key. Once you are in the edit form, Highlight and then click on the icons at the top of the page to make bold, italic, indent, etc (to see those icons your browser needs to have javascript enabled). No HTML knowledge required. See also: FormattingRules. Click on add comment (base of page) to add a comment.

Q: How do I create a new page in the wiki?
A: To create a new wiki page, simply edit an existing page and include a CamelCase word (see the next Question for what is CamelCase). The CamelCase word will become a link to a blank page (assuming that CamelCase word is not the name of an already existing page, of course!). Or you can enter the name of your new page in the box below to create it (make sure you want to create a new page before you click the 'Create and Edit' button!):

After you have created your page, add it to the SiteMap page so that it can be found by others easily. To do so, in the SiteMap page click the 'edit' link under the appropriate section. Before you create your page, also visit SiteMap and PageIndex to make sure a similar page has not be created by someone else.


Q: What is CamelCase?
A: A word starting with a capital letter, with a capital in the middle or end, like FileFormat, or DcmF.

Q: How do I save a page?
A: Click on Store. You can always re-edit. If using the preview option remember to store. You can also name your edits and this is recommended as the name appears in the PageIndex.

Q: Do I have to register?
A: Chances are you are already! You probably wouldn't be here reading this wiki unless you are a registered DCMF user!
- Just go to Register/Login or UserSettings and enter your name and password from the main DCMF site.

An unregistered user, or someone not logged in yet, may come across this:
You don't have write access to this page. You might need to register an account to get write access. Just Login one time, and you'll be able to edit!

Q: How do I register
A: You don't register here on the wiki, and the form fields and buttons won't do anything, even if you try! Use your Username and Password for the main DCMF site. You should only need to log in to the wiki once!

Q: Can I edit a page owned by someone else?
A: Yes. Ownership is more like a caretaker or moderater/guardian. An owner can if they wish, restrict access to only them but that is rarely done.

Q: How do I add pics?
A: Host pics at http://tinypic.com∞ or http://imageshack.us/∞
then add the plain: http://i12.tinypic.com/4g9a6gp.jpg

Q: How do I delete a comment?
A: You need to be a registered user first. Then you will see the 'Delete Comment' button under each comment when you are logged in. Click on it will delete a comment. To delete the lastest comment you can also press 'Alt+D' (so be very careful). You can only delete your own comments on a page owned by others. If you own the page, you can delete any comment on that page.
